The Action Group Committee is a local citizen based group, which includes the support of our Algonquin First Nation neighbours; who wish to save the Maynooth train station from further structural water damage and possible collapse of the roof. Immediate repairs are needed and we are hoping that this can accomplished before the next winter season. Our committees immediate goal is to repair and replace the roof on all three structures. We have gathered so far over 550 pledges of support including Facebook supporters at the “Save the Maynooth Station”. There are approximately 60 individuals and counting, who have endorsed the project by also offering the following: volunteer time, skills, labour, equipment, machinery, raffle ticket prizes, and silent auction items. These have included art work, kitchen help and any other fund raising help needed. After two events, one on May the 5th and one on June the 2nd this year, we have so far raised $1,659.30 towards this end. Our committee is encouraged by the growing support and on going offer of time and effort by Maynooth citizens and kind offers coming from individuals from our surrounding area. We believe that this project will help strengthen our connection with one another by working, collaborating and celebrating our community together.
